Study Program Evaluation
Study program self-evaluation report (in portuguese)
One of UMAIA's most defining and distinguishing features has been its investment in training physical education teachers in line with academic and legal requirements and the demands of the teaching profession today. It has done this by providing training that seeks to meet the challenges faced by recognising the value of physical education in education and sports policy. The training provided involves three different training areas that form the profile of an UMAIA physical education teacher: delivering lessons, education management, planning and participating in the education community and extension to the surrounding community. The aim is to train professionals who are able to: - Further develop and incorporate knowledge in physical education and its different fields, specifically school sport and active lifestyles: - Apply their scientific training pedagogically and didactically, based on a neohumanistic perspective with an ethical, social and cultural focus; - Deal with issues of school management and organisation in order to know how to communicate appropriately using different forms of expression in specific educational contexts; - Behave in such a way as to encourage teamwork, the sharing of information and individual and collective achievements in the educational environments where they teach; - Incorporate the demands of professional life by progressively increasing autonomy, based on a considered professional identity and founded on the principles of sports culture.
