Throughout the degree programme, students undertake applied multimedia communication projects, both individually and in groups, many of which are carried out in collaboration with external organisations, companies, cultural institutions and public bodies. These projects enable students to work with real briefs, specific deadlines and professional contexts, progressively aligning their academic training with the demands of the job market.
The course’s strong practical and project-based focus is reflected in the successful integration of many students into the organisations where they undertake their curricular placements, demonstrating the suitability of the technical, creative and methodological skills acquired throughout their studies.
The course also promotes the development of working methods, autonomy, responsibility and the ability to respond to real-world challenges in digital and multimedia communication.
One of the distinctive features of the degree programme is the annual organisation of the FRAMING event – Impressions and Expressions of Multimedia Communication, which facilitates direct contact between students and professionals and experts in the field through themed seminars, conferences and opportunities for discussion. This event provides a unique opportunity to engage with the professional world, update practices and engage in critical reflection on contemporary trends in multimedia communication.
The teaching staff comprises experts from various academic disciplines, including communication, design, multimedia, digital technologies and visual culture, ensuring an interdisciplinary, up-to-date and pedagogically consistent education. The close relationship between lecturers and students and the continuous monitoring of projects are central pillars of the course’s pedagogical model. Lecturers on this course are part of the CIAC - UMAIA Research Unit, which was rated ‘Very Good’ in the international evaluation conducted by the FCT.
At the same time, the degree programme encourages internationalisation through participation in academic mobility programmes and international placements, as well as the development of projects in collaboration with external partners, contributing to an education with an international dimension and exposure to different cultural and professional contexts.
